by Xequted - 8th June 2005The second part in this detailed guide to Hood Life. What else can CJ do around San Andreas?
INTRO
Within the cities of San Andreas, there are many varied ways of life. The people of each of the three cities of San Andreas lead very different lives from each other. Every citizen has their own style and each city has different kinds of attractions to offer CJ can makes the most of every opportunity that these diverse cities have to offer.
Los Santos itself is a sprawling, diverse must-see city. An urban wonderland of historic landmarks like the Babel towers, labyrinths of criss-crossing freeways, side streets and rundown residential districts, all full of things to do.
In Los Santos, CJ's life, when he isn't hanging out with his crew is filled with a diet of fast food followed by raw workouts, fresh ink and a little bball, CJ keeps it street at night with his girl Denise.

PART 2: HOOD LIFE - AFTER DARK
HOOD LIFE: CLOTHING: BINCO
In Los Santos, what you wear is as important as how you behave. Dressing the part and wearing the right colors is essential to survival in the hood. Visit a clothing store to buy better clothes which will increase CJ's Respect level and Sex Appeal.
Binco is a place where you get what you pay for...the clothes are cheap and so is the quality. A discount store located in the Ganton district; you can expect to find a large selection of budget priced brand name t-shirts (i.e. ERIS), plaid shirts, khakis, and sneakers. A word of advice for those not familiar with the inner city life of San Andreas: please be sure to pick the right colors, because the wrong ones could kill you.
Items available for purchase appear in blue text on the clothing menu screen. Previously purchased items appear in green text. These green items appear in CJ's wardrobe closet. Try on an item by pressing A. Hit A again to purchase for the amount displayed.

HOOD LIFE: MODIFY A LOWRIDER
When CJ has enough money together, he can stop by a mod garage and have his low rider modified. A red wrench icon will appear on the map/radar once a garage is open. Transfender is the biggest commercial garage and has the most number of locations in the state. CJ can also take his car to a local garage and get hooked up. Mod garages only open their doors for vehicles that they can service.
Every vehicle is different and all parts and prices are specific to each vehicle. Certain services and parts offered are not the same for each vehicle. For example, certain custom detailed paint jobs (flames or murals) are exclusive to a vehicle.
To change the color of a vehicle, select a color from an in-game panel menu of colors. Use the Left Thumbstick or the Directional Pad to select a color. Vehicles with stripes or two tones have interior (seat color) and exterior options. A mod garage can customize vents, hoods, exhausts, spoilers, lights, roof, wheels, rims, car stereos and hydraulics.
NOTE: Taking a customized painted vehicle into a Pay 'N' Spray will wipe out any customized Paint Job. If you want to keep the paint job, stay out of the Pay 'N' sprays.
Each vehicle serviced has a Nitro option, however not every vehicle offers the full menu of Nitrous options (2x, 5x, 10x). The more nitrous you choose, the higher the price. Different Nitro options reflect the number of times you can use the nitrous speed boost before returning for another installment.
HOOD LIFE: GIRLFRIENDS: Denise Robinson
CJ has a number of different girlfriends throughout all of San Andreas. Denise Robinson is the first girl he encounters.
In order for a girl to like CJ, he's got to be in good physical shape and have lots of Sex Appeal. Outfit him with some new clothes, haircut, tattoos and drop the Fat, but most importantly get a nice car. Step out of a nice car and Sex Appeal is seriously boosted. NOTE: A damaged vehicle lowers Sex Appeal.
To initiate a date, walk up to a girl to interact with her. Answer positively and be nice and she'll accept a date. A Heart icon will appear on the map marking the location of her house where you can pick her up for a date.
Once a girl agrees to go out, drive to her home and step into the red marker. Each girl is available for a date at different times. They will refuse to go out if CJ doesn't look good or if his Sex Appeal is low. If you continue to ignore your girlfriend, she will dump you and no longer be available for a date.
NOTE: Flowers are scattered across the SA landscape. Pick up some before a date, then face your girlfriend before the date ends. Press the Left Trigger to surprise her. Use the Left Trigger afterward to kiss her. Both the kiss and the flowers add 1% each to the Girlfriend Progress statistic.
The girl will said what she wants to do on a date. She will either request dinner, drinks, dancing or just want to go out and have fun. Depending on her request, an icon will appear on the map:
DATES
Request / Icon
Dinner Silverware
Drinks Martini
Dancing Club
Get to the club or restaurant quickly or your date will get bored and CJ will have to take her home.
HOOD LIFE: PLAYING POOL
A local Ganton bar, Ten Green Bottles is for locals and locals only. Located in the middle of Grove Street Families territory, this place can be TROUBLE. CJ likes to stop in for a beverage and a game of pool. There's even a chance to make a little extra cash.
Head over to the pool table and find someone looking for a game. Approach them until the on screen text "press Y to play pool" appears. Press X or B to increase or decrease the wager.
RULES: Similar to standard pool, if you scratch (sink the cue ball), the opponent can place the cue anywhere on the table. However, scratching on the 8-ball is allowed in this game.
AIMING MODE: Use the Left Thumbstick to aim the pool stick left and right to break off the cue ball. Press the X button to proceed to Shooting Mode.
SHOOTING MODE: Use the Right Thumbstick to strike the cue ball by tilting down and then pushing up. The cue ball hitting gauge appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. The green dot on the ball indicates the cue's strike location. Move the tip of stick on the cue ball (use the Left Thumbstick) to affect the cue ball's direction. A row of dots plots the ball's trajectory according to the position of the cue.
SCORE METER: The score, which appears in the bottom-left corner of the screen, displays the number of potted balls (balls sunk). If a foul occurs, this scoreboard illustrates the foul, or shows that the scratched ball is in your hand.
HOOD LIFE: Tagging
Being from Grove Street, CJ learned early on that "getting up" was the key to keeping Grove Street from being controlled by the Front Yard Ballas. When encountering a rival gang tag, CJ likes to spray "Grove Street 4-Life" in green spray paint over it.
Press the Right Trigger to lock on a tag and press B to spray the "Grove St. 4-Life" tag on a wall.
